MAPS: Locations based on GeoTargeting

Being able to detect a subscriber’s location and show them your nearest store has been a highly sought after tool that is now available through NiftyImages.

Our Maps feature will allow you to custom design your map, import a list of locations and make a few quick selections to complete your map in under 5 minutes!

Our Maps are a single Image URL and HREF that will automatically show each subscriber a map of their nearest location and give Google driving directions to that location upon clicking on the image.

This Enterprise Plus feature is easy, yet powerful, to design your custom map and implement into any email service provider!

What you need to get started?

  • CSV File of Locations:  Using Address or Latitude/Longitude
  • Fallback Image if no locations are detected
  • Link to your store locator if no locations are detected

Designing Your Map:

Start by entering any address to get a live view from Google Maps.

Location Address

From there you can adjust the size of the image, the Map Type, Zoom, and Marker Color/Letter. We recommended to make the map dimensions the same as your Fallback image.

We also give you the option to use a custom marker, by entering the Image URL of that marker. This should be a maximum of 64 x 64 pixels.  You can even have a custom marker for each individual location by including it in your CSV file.

Uploading Your Locations:

You have two options here to upload a CSV with either Address or Latitude/Longitude for your locations. There is also an option to include a Location ID column, in case you want to override GeoTargeting to show a subscriber their preferred location that you have already captured.

The next steps will guide you to select your Address column, Location ID column, Custom Marker column and tell us if you are using column names that shouldn’t be imported.

*If you have additional columns that you want to import, you can do so by mapping them as either Text, Number, Image/URL, or True/False fields. These will be accessible to use in our next update to Maps.

Map Locations can have unique Markers:

Each location on a Map can now have it’s own unique Icon. Simply map the appropriate column when importing your locations.  The Markers must be hosted images and sized to 64 x 64.

Search Options:

Here you can choose the Search Radius that we will use to detect the nearest location for each subscriber. If they are not within the Search Radius of any location, you can display a Fallback Image.

We also let you choose the number of locations that you wish to show on your map.

You’re Done!

Once you have finished you will see the Image URL that you can put into your email HTML. Each time this image shows, we will detect the IP of the device and show the closest location that you have uploaded or the Fallback image if there are none within your search radius.

Links:

We also allow you to link your images so that subscribers can get Google Driving Directions to the locations they are viewing. Simply choose the Link Icon to select this option and put in a link to your Store Locator page for subscribers that see the Fallback Image.

Overrides:

If you included a Location ID column in your CSV file, than you will be able to use that for subscribers as well. This allows you to override our GeoTargeting for subscribers that you know want a certain location, or show a fallback location if GeoTargeting shows no locations (Gmail/Yahoo).

Locations:

Here you have the ability to see your locations on a map, add a location, edit the properties of a location or move the marker. We will also alert you here if Google was unable to find a location based on the Address or Lat/Lon that you uploaded, allowing you to fix it on the spot.
